Qualifications: CEng MICE MIHT
Start date: August 2005
I'm a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 20 years experience in the construction industry. I like to believe that I've seen all 'sides of the fence' having acquired diverse multidisciplinary experience in both the public and private sectors. I've worked with contractors, consultants and local authorities, in the design office, and out on site in highways, structures, aviation and infrastructure development.
For the last five to six years of my career I've held senior management positions and have been fortunate enough to project manage the design and/or construction of a number of high profile, multi-disciplinary projects such as the Jubilee River project (£83m flood alleviation scheme), the £350m Royal Bank of Scotland New World HQ in Edinburgh, the £148m M25 J12-15 widening scheme and more recently the £350m regeneration of Bracknell town centre.
Having spent just over seven years working predominately within the public sector market, I had reached a point in my career where I wanted a new challenge and to explore my career potential within the private sector. Capita Symonds offered this opportunity local to where I lived and, in addition, it was at a stage in its development where I felt I could make a significant impact in driving the business forward.
I'm working on the Bracknell Town Centre Regeneration Project and at West Stevenage (a jacked boxed underpass beneath the A1M to facilitate the construction of a 1500 unit residential housing development). As well as these two major projects, I'm also involved in a number of smaller schemes.
Capita Symonds has enabled me to enhance my business development skills on an ongoing basis, primarily through my involvement in redevelopment and restructuring at our Newbury office.
Specific ongoing training has been available, enabling me to further develop my managerial and leadership skills. I've found opportunities for specific training and further development to be part of the culture of the company.
