We partner with healthcare organisations to transform services and processes, delivering change that supports high quality care and a positive patient experience while achieving efficiency savings across all aspects of the organisation.
Capita is the UK’s leading delivery partner for property and infrastructure solutions across the health sector, offering a portfolio of services that fuses health, estates, property and strategic real estate expertise with design, management, planning, and engineering services. Our philosophy is that the health sector cannot just ‘build its way’ out of the downturn and that our focus must also be about engaging with clinicians, staff and patients to change the way they work and use buildings.
We have saved our clients over £85 million in property estates and operations costs through a range of innovative business models. We have also developed a whole new series of products and services following lessons we have learnt from other industries such as airport design and operation. These include ‘Welcome’ and retail centres, digital car parking solutions, hotels in hospitals, and carbon reduction energy schemes. Across the full spectrum of its health offering Capita works with over 70% of NHS organisations, 148 of the 168 acute trusts in England, and has clients in every health economy in the UK and Ireland.
Bringing fresh and innovative ideas for new ways of working, cost reduction and income generation.
Through commissions that we carry out for our clients, we get a good appreciation and overview of an estate and with an outsider's perspective can often identify any potential for rationalisation, income generation or other commercial opportunities that could be of considerable benefit to our clients.
We 'create' through the entire project or programme cycle, providing bespoke expertise from front end advisory and acquisition, planning and development, multidisciplinary design and project management, through to ongoing property and estates management.
Supporting our clients with the day-to-day running of their operational estate.
NHS Trusts have a duty of care to provide safe and secure environments from which to deliver their services and to keep those facilities running 24/7 365 days a year whilst troubleshooting and finding solutions to any problems that arise. Having robust processes in place to deal with routine maintenance and identify under-performing areas is essential in the current financial climate where budgets are closely monitored and healthcare provision, cleanliness and statutory compliance are often under the microscope.
We have years of experience in assisting Trusts in the day-today running of their operational estate, many of our consultants have worked in estates, facilities and engineering departments of NHS Trusts during their careers.
Helping our clients to make the most effective and affordable use of their estate and facilities and get the best out of their services and staff.
With the UK and global economies facing many challenges, it has never been more important for us to create the opportunities and markets of the future, rather than take a back seat and wait for trading conditions to improve.
We believe that this is vital for the NHS, governments and private enterprise and that we can play a key role in unlocking these new opportunities. Our health estate experts can help you find ways to maximise the productivity and efficiency of your NHS properties and facilities.
Helping our clients with the management, development, acquisition and disposal of their property assets for better efficiency and service provision.
The National Health Service is looking to reduce estate costs and deliver on the objectives of the NHS Improving Quality agenda. To deliver these objectives effective property management should optimise the estate whilst driving efficiency... leading edge thinking and innovative ways of working can be key to reducing estate costs.
We are working with NHS Trusts all over the UK to optimise their property assets, introducing collaborative management and best practice to developing strategies that increase capital receipts whilst reducing costs
Through "Delivery Partnering" we develop an understanding of the exact use of space and service objectives within a Trust; we have a unique understanding of the priorities and aims of NHS organisations - many of our staff have direct experience of working within the NHS - the new service directions for all NHS organisations and can apply experience and knowledge to assist Trusts in making informed solutions for future delivery.
Helping our clients to improve and refine their strategic plans and supporting functions so they can continue to improve efficiency and quality.
Our large pool of professional staff have a wealth of experience of working in the NHS, at a variety of levels and in a wide range of disciplines - they can bring this knowledge and expertise to bear in helping our clients to review their existing services, properties, pathways and functions and see where improvements can be made to the patient experience, operational efficiencies, capital and revenue costs and sustainability.
Our team of experts works with the health & care sector to deliver a collaborative approach to sustainable healthcare.

Care Without Carbon - Seven Steps to Sustainable Healthcare
Care Without Carbon is our flagship process to embed sustainability within a health organisation, created by the NHS, for the NHS. Care Without Carbon provides a proven framework for developing and implementing your own Sustainable Development Management Plan (SDMP).
Developed by Sussex Community NHS Trust in partnership with Capita, Care Without Carbon provides a multi-award-winning model, designed to meet national policy requirements on sustainability and carbon reduction in the NHS. Since its creation in 2013 we have worked across the NHS, supporting Trusts and commissioners on their journey to becoming more sustainable.
The beauty of Care Without Carbon is its simplicity. Based around seven steps, it ensures all aspects of sustainability are captured in a flexible and integrated model that can be tailored to suit any NHS organisation.
