Origin Park Distribution Centre

Client SEGRO plc
Services Engineering
Project Value £N/A
Status Complete

Capita provided civil, structural and geo-environmental engineering for the construction of SEGRO’s phase two of Origin Park – a new build 208,000 square feet distribution centre consisting of three major units. The project was Segro’s largest UK development and had the fastest construction period to date.

The overall project totals warehouse space including associated offices, service yards and vehicle parking for the development. Each unit is self-contained with secure gated service yards and their own parking spaces. Access to the site is via a landlord controlled gatehouse fitted with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems.

The development is highly sustainable with credentials include photovoltaic systems and rainwater harvesting. Overall the development achieved an `Excellent’ BREEAM rating and EPC rating: A.

SEGRO was delighted to win ‘Best Overall Scheme – Multi-Let Industrial Estate’ at the Industrial Agents Society (IAS), Awards 2015 for Origin Park.

Origin is only eight miles from Central London, one of the key factors as to why international and national companies have chosen to locate at Park Royal. The site is located in the heart of one of the UK’s largest employment pools, over 1 million people live within a 15-minute drive of Origin and around 56,000 employees living in Park Royal itself.

Everyone at SEGRO is very pleased about this win. The success was due to a combination of factors including the quality of the design and construction, the pre-lets to Ocado, Mash Purveyors, John Lewis and Wasabi. The number of jobs we have brought to the area is upwards of 1,500.
