As one of the leading suppliers of consultancy services to the Highways Agency, Capita Symonds is a member of their Major Projects Community (MPC). The MPC is made up from the leading contractors and consultants in the highways Industry.

The Highways Agency has demonstrated a commitment to find a better way of delivering its road building programme under the partnering banner in what hitherto was probably one of the most adversarial sectors of the UK construction industry. At the same time the Agency is looking for its supply chain to take ownership of more of the upfront processes within its projects.

It therefore made sense for those organisations involved in the road building programme to consider combining resources to evolve together the fundamentals for delivering major projects. It was from this notion that the idea of the MPC was borne, with an agreed vision:
