Capita at the NHS Property conference

15th November 2016

Capita will be presenting a work session for this year’s NHS Property Conference at One Great George Street, London SW1.

David Brown, Nick Jones, Shane Dineen and Dr Matt Williams-Gray from Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure – Health, will be speaking as part of a work session discussion at 12:20pm on Tuesday 15 November on “Unlocking the full potential of the NHS Estate – the challenges and opportunities”.

The ambitious five year and general practice forward view sets out a striking challenge to the NHS, and provides a vision which will only be met if providers and commissioners embrace significant transformation from existing models of health and social care. Sustainable Transformation Plans (STP’s), Devolution, Lord Carter and the One Public Estate programme will bring about the promise of significant change and challenge to the way we deliver health and social care.

A fundamental transformation will inevitably involve changes to the estate at significant pace, with continued focus on optimising the asset base, co-locating with other public sector organisations, reducing costs and creating more flexible, multi-functional bases. This transformation of the NHS and Social Care system presents an opportunity for the NHS, not only to right size the estate and make it fit for future provision, but to put itself in position to maximise returns from the proposed transformation that will take place.

We will discuss the five key considerations that now form part of estate planning and future strategies. How partnership and collaborative working across the NHS has identified some key opportunities for forward thinking patient care. Finally, understanding the true potential of unlocking site value via Town Planning and engagement.
