Planning for Housing

Planning for Housing is a conference for public and private sectors to gather and address some of the most pertinent planning challenges related to housing in the Northern region and beyond. 

Deborah McLaughlin, Head of Housing and Delivery and Strategy, is a confirmed speaker for the Planning for Housing conference on 28 February. The conference begins at 10:00am in The Lowry Hotel, Manchester.

Deborah will be taking to the stage just after lunch at 1:45pm; she will be discussing “Public Land Assets: how can councils use their assets to take a more proactive role in delivering housing?

  • How are councils using their land and assets to deliver new homes?
  • What are the challenges facing planning authorities looking to start building council houses themselves or directly commissioning housebuilding, and how can they tackle them?
  • What role does the private sector have in enabling public assets to be used to boost housing delivery?
  • What tools do local planning authorities have to ensure that planning permissions are built out?
