Capita announces groundbreaking strategic partnership with Genesis Housing Association

Capita has won a revolutionary strategic partnership deal with leading housing service provider Genesis Housing Association to provide all of its professional and strategic consultancy support.

The partnership, which is for an initial period of five years, replaces an extended supply chain of over 80 suppliers and will see Capita’s property and infrastructure business providing a ‘one-stop shop’ in the provision of strategic input and technical delivery consultancy in support of Genesis’ ambitious housing programme. Genesis is the first Housing Association to take this partnership approach which will be a focus of huge interest to the housing sector.

Capita will be advising on Genesis’ development strategy, securing the delivery of all its new housing projects, and supporting the management of its asset base - a £6bn portfolio of over 33,000 properties across London, the South East and East of England. One of the most important aspects of Capita’s role will be in working with Genesis to leverage value from its vast portfolio to fund the delivery of new homes for the benefit of the wider community.

Capita will specifically provide strategic housing advice and project management, cost management, engineering, planning and development services. In addition to driving additional value from current assets, Genesis  see the benefits of this approach to be major savings in time and cost of professional service delivery, generation of new opportunities to support the growth strategy and the driving of strategic change –all  in support of the vision to be the leading property-services based housing provider.

Genesis has an active development portfolio with current keynote projects at Grahame Park in the London Borough of Barnet and Woodberry Down in the London Borough of Hackney. Its previous Stratford Halo development in the London Borough of Newham was an award-winning flagship development that has brought hundreds of high quality homes across a mix of tenures onto the market in one of the fastest-growing parts of the capital.

Genesis has committed to a development pipeline which will make a real contribution towards addressing the housing supply issues in the region, an issue now seen as having national importance.

John Carleton, executive director, markets and portfolio, at Genesis Housing Association comments: “This innovative new arrangement with Capita will enable Genesis to bring in the expertise and experience we need to help steer some ambitious projects towards completion. Our goal is to provide an exciting mix of housing solutions which suit a range of people – from affordable rent right through to market rent and outright sale. Our development programme supports that strategy – and is set to play an important role in addressing housing supply issues in the areas in which we operate. Genesis also has an important goal to strategically manage our asset base. We want to extract the maximum value from those assets while continuing to focus on our social purpose of delivering new homes.”

Genesis is very much looking forward to working with Capita over the next few years as we work hard to grow our business of building better futures for our existing and potential residents and customers.
