Capita Appointed to Advise on Oughtibridge Paper Mill

27th August 2014

Leading global hygiene and forest products company SCA has appointed Capita to advise on the potential for its 100 acre former paper mill site at Oughtibridge, Sheffield.
Capita, which has previously worked on the successful assessment and sale of a number of former paper mill sites across the UK, will be undertaking a detailed review of the estate which comprises 100 acres of land, c. 350,000sqft of industrial buildings, and a number of houses.

The team will be speaking with the local planning authorities and other interested stakeholders as part of the commission and working alongside the SCA team, which has already been managing the decommissioning of redundant plant, equipment and buildings.

We’re delighted to be appointed by SCA on the Oughtibridge site. SCA has a long tradition of taking its social and environmental responsibilities very seriously and this is a key component of the commission. Capita has a strong track record in dealing with complex brownfield sites and we are looking forward to using that experience to find a solution that maximises the potential of this diverse site.

Paul Oliver, SCA programme manager adds: “An important part of the brief we have given to Capita is that, as an ethical company, we want to exit the site responsibly and with consideration for views of the local community and the environment.”

Further enquiries regarding the site should be directed to Andrew Smith at Capita’s London office, 0207 544 2119 or Richard Stivaros, Capita’s Manchester office, 0161 819 4232.
