Capita’s special projects team has been appointed to UK Power Networks’ multidisciplinary Engineering Design Services Framework for the provision of civil and structural engineering; high voltage engineering; mechanical and electrical engineering; and geo-environmental and geotechnical engineering services.
UK Power Networks (UKPN) owns and maintains electricity cables and lines across London, the South East and East of England, making sure over eight million customers’ lights stay on.
The framework will see Capita delivering designs for new and existing high voltage electricity substations, overhead line routes, and inner city connections from ratings of 11kv through to 132kV.
The framework will support UKPN through a critical period, overseeing the transition of the remainder of the DPRC5 price control period and into the first year of the new Ofgem price control period, RIIO-ED1, which is the first price control period to actively incentivise innovation.
Graham Sant, director of special projects, Capita, said: “The award by such a prestigious client confirms our growing strength and capability in the field of high voltage engineering, complimenting the already comprehensive suite of multidisciplinary services offered by the special projects team.”
