The Trees Design Action Group (TDAG) has launched the latest edition of its Trees in Hard Landscapes: A Guide for Delivery.
With a foreword from Baroness Kramer, Minister of State for Transport, the new guide explores the practical challenges and solutions to integrating trees in 21st century streets, civic spaces and surface car parks, detailing process, design and technical options. It will be of particular interest to highway engineers, public realm professionals and tree specialists.
Supported by Capita and a host of other industry organisations, this new guide is the result of an unprecedented collaboration between TDAG and the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), and the Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF), which have all been active members of the steering group reviewing and advising throughout the development process.
Capita’s director of land planning Martin Kelly is Chair of TDAG.
This process also involved over 100 experts and professionals from diverse background and sectors who took part in interviews helping to shape the technical content as well as the examples featured in the guide. The result is a highly cross-disciplinary and evidence-based publication illustrated with 32 exciting new case studies from all parts of Great Britain and abroad.
