Richard Darch to Lead Capita's Health Property Team

7th July 2014

Capita’s property and infrastructure business has appointed Richard Darch as executive director – health.

Richard joins the company from Ashley House plc, a developer of primary care property and extra care housing where he was executive director; and Healthcare Partnering, a company he founded in 2007 and which provides strategic advice to healthcare focused businesses looking to access the UK healthcare market and partner with the NHS. In 2012 the company expanded to also deliver healthcare strategy and infrastructure advisory services.

Richard will lead Capita’s award winning health property team which has managed and disposed of over £1.5bn of surplus properties for NHS clients across the UK.

During his time with Healthcare Partnering, Richard also led ‘Amber Solutions for Care’ (ASC), a joint venture with Amber Infrastructure, a leading Infrastructure investor and fund manager of international public partnerships with over £20bn of assets under management. ASC was specifically set up to bid for a number of mid market (£10m to £50m) health and care infrastructure projects.

Previously Richard was also a founding Director of Infracare which developed and delivered over £100m of healthcare infrastructure in the UK and was sold to Babcock and Brown in 2006. He was also a founder of SDC Consulting (sold to Serco in 2002).

Richard Marchant, CEO, property and infrastructure, at Capita said: “I am extremely pleased to announce Richard’s appointment. He brings a wealth of experience in healthcare consulting and specifically in infrastructure development and funding. He has successfully grown and sold a number of healthcare consulting businesses over the years and has a great track record in healthcare projects, PFI and LIFT initiatives.

“Following the sad death of David Lawrence in March we have been seeking a worthy replacement. Richard will also work closely with the wider Capita plc to develop more joined-up opportunities across healthcare, as well as accelerating growth for our business.”
