Outdoor advertising in Salford is set to be transformed with the launch of the Salford Arch, an iconic digital advertising superstructure stretching across one of Salford’s busiest roads.
The new double-sided, architecturally-designed digital advertising billboard will be constructed across the M602 gateway as the motorway meets Regent Road, Ordsall.
Urban Vision – Capita’s joint venture partnership with Salford City Council - will be working with JC Decaux, the world’s largest outdoor media company on this development.
The Salford Arch, which will be seen by 81,000 vehicles every day and is set to become a profitable landmark for Salford with income made from the new venture being reinvested into improving council services.
All construction and licensing costs will be paid by JCDecaux with no capital investment from the council.
Deputy City Mayor, Councillor David Lancaster, said: “This will create a new landmark in Salford. The M602 gateway at Regent Road is a very busy site where adverts will be seen by tens of thousands of commuters each day.
“The profits we make will be invested in key public services for the people of Salford. That’s a good deal for council taxpayers. Because of government spending cuts, we must look at other options to raise money for the council. This looks set to be one of the most successful.”
