South Wolverhampton & Bilston Academy receives Civic Trust commendation

18th March 2014

The £24m South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy has been highly commended at the Civic Trust Awards ceremony.

The Civic Trust Awards scheme was established in 1959 to recognise the very best in architecture, design, planning, landscape and public art. Awards are given to projects that demonstrate high quality architecture or design, have demonstrated sustainability, are accessible to all users and have made a positive cultural, social or economic contribution to the local community.

Capita provided architecture, structures, civils, m&e, acoustics, ecology, landscape, executive design advice, security services, FFE and interior design services on the 1200 place new-build academy.

The academy, which is co-sponsored by Wolverhampton University, Wolverhampton College and Wolverhampton City Council, has an engineering specialism. The learning approach places a great emphasis on skills and the brief required the development of four learning zones: Newton’s Apple, Global Gateway, The Boardroom, and The Lifepod, with a mix of cellular and specialist accommodation wrapping around large open-planned skill zone areas.
