Designed by ESA – part of Capita – on behalf of Exton Estates and Rockspring, the development comprises two buildings (V1 & V2) arranged over five floors and appear to be interlinked via a large horizontal brise soleil and oversailing fins.
Velocity provides large open plan efficient floorplates, benefitting from full height glazing, giving excellent natural light penetration and providing maximum workplace flexibility for those who will work in the buildings. Its striking architecture, high quality construction and finish together with its engaging public spaces, and airy, open plan office accommodation ensure an ideal environment for team working.
The site was challenging, being partially located within the green belt, situated in a flood pain and adjacent to the historic racetrack - a listed monument. From the outset the team liaised with the local council, Mercedes Benz, specialist designers, the Environment Agency and English Heritage to deliver a building that is sensitive to both its surroundings and historic context but embodies the bold and visionary spirit of Brooklands in a dynamic and streamlined design, echoing the energy of the great legends of speed.
