Lawrence Waterman, director of Health and Safety at the £8bn Battersea Power Station development, was the keynote speaker at the 24th annual Capita Safety lecture at the Royal College of Surgeons in London.
His lecture - ‘Out of Site: Health, safety and well-being beyond the construction site boundary’ - looked at how site teams are working with their local communities to transform public perceptions of health, safety and well-being.
Other speakers included Jonathan Schifferes of the RSA (Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) whose talk – entitled ‘Building for well-being’ – focussed on public services, communities, and the built environment and Heather Beech from the event’s media partner – SHP magazine
A record number of guests including key clients and senior Capita personnel attended the event which was hosted by Peter McGettrick, Capita’s director of health and safety.
