MMU scoops Manchester Project of the Year

19th June 2015

Manchester Metropolitan University's (MMU) new £60m Brooks building at its Birley Fields site in Hulme has been named ‘Manchester Project of the Year’ at the North West Regional Construction Awards 2015.

The awards provide an exclusive opportunity for the North West built environment sector to celebrate outstanding examples of best practice within their field. They aim to recognise exceptional companies and projects from across the region that have demonstrated strength, passion and commitment in a collaborative and sustainable manner.

Capita provided multidisciplinary design services including architecture, landscape, civil and structural engineering, fire and acoustics services, on the project which comprised the construction of a new landmark five-storey academic building, energy centre and extensive public realm works for the faculties of education, health, and psychology & social care.

The building is part of a wider £139m masterplan for the Birley Fields campus which includes 1200 student residencies; a multi-storey car park; an energy centre building providing heat and power to the academic building and student residences; and a significant new hard and soft landscaped public realm area.
