The Endeavour Building at the Help for Heroes Personal Recovery Centre in Plymouth has won the ‘Best Inclusive Building’ category at the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Building Excellence Awards for the South West.
Designed by Capita’s architectural and structural teams the centre welcomes both serving and veteran members of all three services who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses whilst serving our country. It provides opportunities to take part in sporting, leisure and therapeutic activities; education courses; life skills courses; and provides access to welfare advice and support.
Facilities in the project’s £10.2m, 3,800 sqm Endeavour Building include a competition-standard 25-meter swimming pool with hydraulic-adjustable floor; large sprung floor gymnasium with a fully adaptive cardio-vascular space; 12-meter hydrotherapy pool; eight fully equipped consulting rooms; large barista style cafeteria; support hub; and administrative space.
The project will now go forward to the LABC Grand Finals which will take place on 10 November in London.
The Help for Heroes Personal Recovery Centre also recently won the ‘Commercial Project of the Year with a value over £5m’ category at the 2015 Michelmores Property Awards, one of the South West's leading property awards.
