Work Begins on Port Salford Junction Access Scheme

17th March 2015

As part of the delivery of the £138m Port Salford scheme, (which involves the construction of the UK’s first tri-modal inland port facility and distribution Park in Barton, Salford), works have now started to build the £1m junction that will facilitate key access to the site.
On behalf of Salford City Council and Peel, Urban Vision has designed this high profile new junction and will be supervising the construction works throughout the scheme delivery.

Work involves:

  • Introducing a new traffic signalled controlled junction
  • Introducing a new left and right turn lane on the A57 Liverpool Road
  • Introducing pedestrian and cycle friendly crossing points
  • Resurfacing the road in the vicinity of the new junction

Special consideration has been put in place for local residents and commuters whilst construction works are underway ensuring that all traffic management is in place at off peak times and noise is kept to a minimum.
Works are scheduled to complete in August 2015 which will mark a key milestone in the delivery of the overarching Port Salford project.
