Capita announces expanded infrastructure projects team

Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure announces enhancements to its Infrastructure Projects business creating four leading sector teams: Highways, Rail, Utilities and Environment.

Two new heads have been appointed to lead the highways and rail sectors. Peter McDermott joins the business as National Highways Director and Bob Halsey as National Rail Director. Two internal appointments have been made, with Paul King as National Environment Director and Michael Anderson as National Utilities Director. This new leadership team has been assembled to help accelerate major UK infrastructure developments. Political support for investment in infrastructure is at its highest level for more than a generation and this new leadership team will bring together the knowledge and extensive expertise of delivering major infrastructure projects with our real estate advisory services of place making, planning and development led by GL Hearn.

Peter and Bob’s extensive experience in working on both local and strategic highways and rail infrastructure projects will provide clients both the experience and knowledge in bringing forward projects to accelerate and deliver the programmes that we need in the UK. Together with the expertise of Paul King Michael Anderson, we have the combined capabilities to support and advise our clients such as HS2, Environment Agency, Network Rail and Highways England.”

The new team comprises:

  • Peter McDermott who has over 35 years’ experience in the highways industry, having worked across transport planning, highway design and construction, highway maintenance and operations. He joins from his previous role where he led the European highway and bridge business of multinational engineering, consultancy and project management firm, CH2M. Peter also currently holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Highway Term Maintenance Association (HTMA).

  • Bob Halsey, a Senior Director in the rail and infrastructure sector having previously held the role of Divisional Director at Highways England where he was responsible for works related to High Speed Two (HS2) and was a Programme Director for Costain in the rail division. He has extensive expertise in both rail and wider infrastructure projects from his 30 years working in the sector.

  • Paul King, who has over 32 years’ experience in infrastructure and has strong project management capability. He is a Chartered Engineer and has a breadth of experience in managing and providing strong procedural control to large multi-disciplinary teams, delivering complex and often inter-related projects.

  • Michael Anderson who has been with Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure for over 17 years, becoming Regional Director for operations in Northern Ireland in 2015. As a Chartered Civil Engineer and NEC Project Manager he has over 28 years’ industry experience in civil engineering. Over his time at Capita, Michael has developed continued relationships with prolific clients such as Northern Ireland Water, helping to deliver infrastructure and non-infrastructure water and waste water projects.
