Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure won the £0.5m schemes category, on behalf of the North Tyneside Council, for the delivery of the Cobalt Cycle Scheme that was completed in August last year.
Capita provided a full range of services including; concept, preliminary and detailed design, stakeholder engagement (public, local businesses and members), scheme cost development, programme development, principal designers duties (CDM 2015) and design support during construction.
The cycle improvements were implemented to significantly improve and enhance sustainable accessibility to the business park through provision of high quality, safe cycling and walking links between Cobalt and local residential areas. It provides a real viable alternative choice of travel to work for local residents and aims to promote a shift away from the reliance on cars.
It provides innovative, high quality infrastructure which supports sustainable and active travel in one of the UK’s largest commercial business parks.
