Highly commended award for Werrington Brook

22nd October 2018

Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure attended the British Construction Industry (BCI) Awards 2018 on Wednesday 10 October at the Grosvenor Hotel, London. The BCI Awards are the most prestigious awards in the built environment sector, with winning projects and teams rightly recognised for their achievements within the industry and the public at large.

Our Werrington Brook Improvement Scheme project had been shortlisted in the "Infrastructure Maintenance Project of the Year" category, and we are delighted to report we went on to win a special highly commended recommendation from the panel.

Our project was a river restoration scheme in Anglian region delivering under the Environment Agency’s Water and Environment Management (WEM) Framework and the only WEM built project that made it to the shortlist for this year’s BCI Awards.

Jo Jolly, Deputy Director at the Environment Agency, comments “This project is a fantastic example of great collaborative working to achieve real improvements in water quality and value for money. Through engagement with communities, and great communication across the integrated team, the Werrington Brook is now much more resilient to changing environmental conditions. A great outcome for people and for wildlife, and this award is really well deserved recognition for the team.”

Graham Sant, Managing Director – Infrastructure, comments “To receive a Highly Commended award for Werrington really is true testimony to the hard work of the Capita team in the appraisal and design of the project, these projects are delivered in true collaboration with the Environment Agency and the Main Works Contractors and exemplify our success in delivering projects collaboratively to ISO44001”.
