Juliet Kelly, a key member of our Health & Safety Expert Witness Services team, has had her legal skills recognised in the UK by the National Association of Licensed Paralegals.
Juliet shares her extraordinary journey from Canada to Capita’s Health & Safety Expert witness team:
In my move to Scotland from Canada, primarily for the weather, I must say I have found a profoundly strong and welcoming community in Glasgow, a cosmopolitan city full of growth and opportunity. I joined H&S Expert Witness Services based in the Glasgow office in March, 2018.
My work as an H&S Expert Witness Service project coordinator means I am the main contact for legal clients, constabularies and local authorities across the UK. Most recently some very interesting former HSE Principal Inspectors have joined our team. We are a growing business!
My background in the Canadian legal community began over ten years ago where I started as a legal secretary while studying to be a paralegal law clerk at College. I eventually became a member of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario following successful completion of my training. My legal experience ranges from small practitioner offices to global law firms. I have been very fortunate to work in a wide variety of criminal and civil areas such as employment law, personal injury litigation, insurance defence, commercial litigation (breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty), debt collections (seizure warrants) and class actions/inquiry.
I’m really proud that my Canadian legal background has been recognised in the UK by the leading association for paralegals, NAPL. Following my application and an interview with the CEO on my experience and current role, I have been granted Fellow membership; one of the highest ranks in the organisation. I am honoured that this has been granted and look forward to utilising my skills with Capita.
The move to Capita has been a great opportunity for me to utilise my legal background with a growing business in H&S Expert Witness Services. Also the move to Scotland has been a great life experience to date and I look forward to growing with Capita, moving forward.
