Jon began his career as a rock mechanics engineer in the South African gold mines. On return to the UK, he transferred these skills onto geotechnical design of coastal engineering projects, including landslide remediation and cliff stabilisation.
He moved to Hong Kong in the mid 1990’s where he was involved with civil engineering projects in the severe urban terrain, before again returning the UK to concentrate on the built environment working across all sectors from housing to mixed-use and high rise developments.
Jon has worked on dispute resolution since the early 1990’s, both assisting appointed experts and taking direct instruction. He has provided expert advice and witness statements for claims including subsidence of residential and commercial facilities, slope stability, foundation and retaining structure failure. He has also routinely undertaken geotechnical forensic investigations of distressed buildings for institutional land owners and property managers.
