The lower two storeys of the hotel house the retail, restaurant and conferencing facilities whilst the floors above provide quality accommodation. The hotel achieved a BREEAM 'Very Good' environmental rating.

Capita was appointed to provide civil, structural and geo-environmental engineering for the design of this new 4* luxury hotel located on the First Street development in Manchester.  The hotel offers a sophisticated atmosphere, innovative design and professional services.

The structural form is a cast insitu reinforced concrete frame supported on piled foundations and utilises post-tensioned suspended floors. On the south elevation the floors above level 5 is suspended from post-tensioned cantilever beams at roof level to form a 7 metre overhang. Due to the magnitude of loading and prevailing ground conditions the super structure is support on reinforced concrete pile caps on continuous flight auger (CFA) piles. Attenuated surface water discharges into the adjacent River Medlock which is culverted beneath the site.

The hotel opened in 2014 with retail units quickly becoming filled shortly afterwards.
