In 2011, West Bromwich Building Society decided it was time to relocate from its current town centre headquarters. The building they had occupied since 1978 no longer met the space and quality requirements that the Building Society required.

Capita was appointed to provide project management services throughout various phases of the relocation project. After negotiations with prospective landlords and evaluating the benefits of two sites, a site was chosen on which a new 70,000 sq ft building was constructed. Its project management team worked in close collaboration with West Brom in developing a plan that met their specific needs and the requirements to house up to 700 employees.

Capita successfully procured a design team, and led the design process through to RIBA Stage F and acted as Project Manager and Employer’s Agent during construction.

The completed headquarters provides open plan office accommodation, staff facilities including a training suite, restaurant, break out space and meeting rooms along with a board room and an executive suite. Constructed to good industry standards, the building achieved a BREEAM excellent rating in alignment with West Brom’s corporate social responsibility and sustainability policies.
