Five year transformation plan

Client University Hospitals of Leicester
Project Value £

Capita are working with University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) in planning and delivering their significant plan to transform delivery of clinical services across their Leicestershire sites.

The Trust’s drivers for undertaking the changes are:

  • Immediate development required to deliver modern day services in Fit for Purpose environment in the right location;
  • 82% of the UHL estate requires considerable work to bring it up to an approved standard;
  • Underinvestment in the estate estimated in the region of £76m;
  • Elements of existing infrastructure reaching end of life and maximum capacity;
  • Piecemeal service delivery across three sites.

The work will include a high-level review of all services across the three main hospital sites and analysis of the adjacencies required, identifying opportunities to rationalise, optimise and improve service delivery; surplus land and buildings can then be disposed of to enable further investment in the retained estate.

Backlog maintenance and estate costs will be reduced, patient pathways improved and sustainability embedded to deliver new and improved models of quality care in line with UHL’s objective of safe, high quality, patient-centred healthcare.
