The Diplomatic Academy in London’s Whitehall has been a long running scheme that began with the refurbishment and remodelling of two storeys of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s Grade I listed building on King Charles Street in 2015.
As a landmark building, with a range of historic interiors, protection of its heritage was essential, and a delicate balance needed to be achieved in maximising occupation whilst modernising the workspace.
Subsequent stages have seen the creation of a new-build learning and conference space, carefully designed and constructed within one of the site’s internal courtyards; along with the upgrading of the building’s fire alarm system which required careful alteration and restoration of the internal building fabric.
