We plan, design, build and manage transport infrastructure, working closely with clients from across local and central government.
We have a long history of co-operation with government agencies and the organisations that supply transport infrastructure – such as airports, local and national roads and railways – as well as the various complementary services.
Our projects range from major national schemes - we designed Crossrail’s Royal Oak, Woolwich and Plumstead Portals, and are one of the leading consultants on the HS2 design framework - to local projects, such as LED street-lighting, that significantly reduce both energy and cost.
Our approach is based on undertaking a thorough assessment of the impact of what we are designing and delivering, including the social and economic effects, before deploying the very best in modern civil engineering technology.
Since 2005 our transport technology team has worked on Highways England’s Traffic Information System (HATRIS) which is used to monitor and report on vehicle journey times on the motorway and trunk road network. The system enables Highways England and the Department for Transport to identify trends and to design new schemes based on solid evidence of traffic flows.
We are also involved in developing and managing other important high tech schemes used widely in the UK’s transport infrastructure, including:
We provide the new Highways England asset management system and associated consultancy services for its road maintenance teams. The Streamlined Data Services (SDS) Lite system we’re delivering will enable highways maintenance teams to manage their highway technology estate, provide tailored reporting on asset performance, and use their own devices to manage highways maintenance projects by the roadside, increasing efficiency and accuracy of the process.
Effective use of technology and data promotes efficiency in day to day service operations and maintenance, informing customers, increasing choice, reducing cost, generating income, providing greater security and improving sustainability.
We specialise in using technology to acquire, process, manage, interpret and present data that can inform decision making and initiate a response. We understand how to extract value from data and communicate information. As independent consultants we understand problems, anticipate needs, value options, respond to change and propose solutions that best meet the user or service need, to optimise investment in technology, IT and system infrastructure.
We deliver consultancy services across the transport, infrastructure, property and government sectors to support implementation of new systems and ways of working.

We are playing an integral role in many major national rail schemes. We have been a key consultant for London’s £15.9bn Crossrail project, designing the Royal Oak, Woolwich & Plumstead Portals, and we are one of the leading consultants on the HS2 design framework and Network Rail’s electrification programme. In the past we have also been involved in the design of HS1 and Thameslink. We deliver a range of commercial and project management, engineering, architecture, electrification and plant, permanent way, telecommunications, real estate and environmental services to the rail sector. Our success is built on long term client relationships across many sectors. We tailor our services to meet the varying needs of our clients and embrace the concepts of partnership.
Our aim is to:
A modern and accessible highway network throughout the UK is essential to our future growth and prosperity. The UK is estimated to have a road network of 262,000 miles, providing the backbone to the economy and the social wellbeing of the nation. The 2017 National Infrastructure and Construction Pipeline sets out around £600 billion of public and private infrastructure investment over the next 10 years. This reflects government ambitions to invest more to upgrade our infrastructure, and support the growing demand for infrastructure services.
Through our multi-disciplinary consultancy services we provide specialist advice in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of highway Infrastructure assets. Our ability to combine these services with project management, planning, environmental planning and asset management allow us to develop optimised infrastructure solutions for our clients. We act as Employer’s Agent/Supervisor on Design and Build highway schemes and provide specialist tunnels advice on new and existing assets. We provide design and supervision services for major refurbishment and upgrades of mechanical, electrical, operational and communication systems. Our in-house capability also extends to technical advice for financial institutions and investors.
Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure works with public and private sector organisations to design, build and optimise their real estate and infrastructure assets. From thought to finish, we apply our combined expertise to achieve more from the entire built environment.
We build competitive advantage through intelligently applied real estate and infrastructure solutions and enhance our clients’ standing in a forever-changing world.
